What To Do If You Keep Getting Booted Out Of The Game

Hey peeps,

Unfortunately getting booted out of Settlers Online is a common enough occurrence to warrant a post such as this.

The short of it is: the game still isn't stable enough - probably because the developers crew is quite small.

So what are the basic treatments to this situation?

FIRST
The best thing you can do is CLEAR your BROWSER CACHE. There are many ways to do this. You can do it through the browser itself. You can do it via your Operating System. You can use a dedicated program to do so.

NOTE: When you clear the cache all your internet browsing history will be DELETED (since it's that jumble of information that is likely to be causing the problem). As such SAVE in your favourites whatever pages you would like to keep.

1
Try and clear the cache through your browser. If you don't know how to do this just google "clear (insert your browser name) cache" and follow the instructions.

2
If clearing Windows cache (if you're using Windows...) still hasn't worked you need to go in a bit deeper. Download CCleaner, install it and RUN it. It will take only a few seconds but it will do a thorough clean up of your system. I would actually advise you to do this once a week or once every two weeks, just to keep your computer running smooth. CCleaner has another good tool which enables you to fix Registry errors (and back up the Registry before you do so). If the cache clearing didn't work, I suggest running a registry scan. You can also try and do a fresh RESTART before or after the Registry cleanup - and after the Cache clearing.

SECOND
Another avenue of exploration is this: check Adobe Flash Player. Is it updated? Do you have new updates to install? Or has a new version been installed and the problems started as soon as it became live?
IF SO, you can try and roll back to a previous version of Flash Player.

THIRD
Have you updated Windows? If so have you finished installing all the updates?! Sometimes the computer needs to reboot in order to finish installing software - and if you haven't done so your computer may well be limping away, unable to work properly. If this is the case, let the poor guy reboot and wait a few minutes for a better gaming experience.

FOURTH
Do you have your anti-virus updated? How long has it been since you ran it? Maybe you have something in your system?
Run your antivirus. Run other tools to scan your computer for adwares, spywares and other normal things that get into our machines just by simply browsing the internet. Not all are necessarily bad. But they do tend to slow down things and clutter our machines.
Here are two programs (free download as well) that can help you with this:
Super-AntiSpyware
MalwareBytes

They are both easy to install (and you can install both, in fact I would recommend it a, as they will detect different things). After you have done so, UPDATE THEM. The run a scan. It might take a while but they are both relatively fast. Get rid of all the stuff they have pointed out.

FIFTH
Maybe your internet connection is not working so well today? Try and switch off your router. Or reboot it. If you have a cable plugging to the computer make sure it is connecting properly to both the router/wall socket and to your computer. Things do get out of place with time...

SIXTH
Defrag your computer. You can use the windows disk degfrag. Or you can use the free downloadable Auslogics Disk Defrag. Easy installation, quick and more efficient than the windows one.

SEVENTH
Use windows own program to check the health of your disk. Windows Disk Checker instructions.

EIGHTH
Is perhaps the most simple explanation of all: maybe the problem isn't really with what you are doing or your computer.
Maybe there has just been a recent update to the game - or an event going - and this has rendered the game more unstable than usual. Maybe the game servers are busy and, being busy, with too many people, more errors occur...

In any case, keep calm, do not worry. It is a game after all. Speak with your fellow guildies if you can. If all or many are experiencing the same problem it is likely that the problem lies on the developers side of things. And, for this, the only thing to do is be patient!

Hope this helped and good luck!
